Jx-3p mod????

hello synth-diy experts..
I thought this might be the correct forum for this question.

On a jx-3p theres a 3 position switch that allows you to select midi, 
programmer(pg-200)w/memory protect, or memory protect off.
Is there any reason I can't add a fourth position that combines the 
programmer function w/ the midi function so I can change the parameters 
in real time while recieving midi data??
