switch with light question

Well, I threw caution to the wind last night and hooked the switch up as:
top(gray) = power
middle = "out" to fuse and power supply
bottom(copper) = other power lead (also hooked to power supply)

And it lit up!  I tried the bottom->ground, and that didn't seem to work.
So, I think I got it working.  I think the light is just a normal
incandescent,
but I can't say for sure (it's behind a red cover).
