Front panel trimmers

Actually, the PCB will be parallel and relatively close to front panel.
This means you could use single or multiturn trimmers with the screw on the
top, mount them on the pot side of the PCB, and simply have a hole in your
faceplate through which to insert your little screwdriver. Depending on the
PCB layout, this may require no modification at all!
