plugs and jacks are designed to have a particular number of insertions/removals
in their lifetimes. Generally, telephone jacks are designed with a
very low number of insertions/removals becuase you generally are not patching
phone stuff that much (plug it in, leave it in).
The first thing that would go, I imagine, is that little plastic tab on
the plug that snaps down to lock it in the jack.
