I hear you...

FWIW, there is the safety consideration.  We know our stuff is safe.
But without CE (and UL, etc), would there not be a sudden fungus
industry creating cheap toasters/hair dryers/whatever that kill people?

 -- That said, with my own gripes over UL/CE/etc notwithstanding...
