solder alu -why?

.....if it is just a matter of making a secure earth point it might be
useful to look at old gear and see what was done there....I find stuff 
from 30 - 40 years ago best as this matches what equipment one is
likely to have access to ..... and I see fairly fierce star washers that
fairly bite into the aluminium chassis and contact nicely with the tinned
washer thing the wire solders to ..... you see similar stateof affairs 
on the tops of those big caps they had on old linear computer power
supplies, some of those carried a fair current.....
