Hmmm...

My wife plays harp and there are some wonderful electronic tuning aids
selling for about $50 which have 12 LEDs and give a clear indication of
when you are on pitch.  These can be thrown off by high harmonic content
but for a sine wave, they are spot on...

They are based around a custom IC - I wonder if this is available and if
this would make a good 1/2 mod utility...  If the chip is not available
from an electronic supplier, it might be possible to order it as a spare
part from the manufacturer or to simply buy the unit and kit-bash it and
mount it on a panel...


I would also like to see a four or eight band LED VU meter.  Do a high
resolution one with 20 LEDs...
