There exist several solders that adhere to aluminum.  The big problem 
like you said is the oxide covering.  This is much less of a probelem 
when soldering than welding it.  There are a few fluxes that dissolve 
the oxide when they are hot and allow the solder to get in good 
contact with the metal.  I don't recall the name, but a welding shop 
or a good hardware store ought to carry it.  Much more info in 
welding books.
