Mixed Jacks

Has anyone build anything with mixed jack types?

Me, I'm a banana man. I like the flexibility, the stacking, the solid
connect, the strength, the size, you get the idea. What I don't like is the
fact the you have no shielding and no normalized connections.

Then I was thinking;
You never stack on an input (except to go to another input - and that's
really the same as stacking on one output, but it lets you use one short
cable and one long).
You also rarely (if ever) never need normalized output jacks in a modular
(do you?).
Lastly, you never have a connection that can be either an input or an
output.

So why not get the best of both worlds and use normalized 1/4" (or 1/8")
jacks for all inputs and bananajacks for your outputs?! The only downside
is that you'd have to make your own cables, but you could kmake 'em from
shielded 1/4" cables with the sleeve connected at one end only. It'd also
be a great learning tool for newby synthesists (like when your nephews come
over) because outputs could only be plugged into inputs!

Has anyone tried or thought about this?

What do you think?
