I think the 'missing sync' mode is a reference to the 'variable pulse
waveforms may be obtained simply by adding an inexpensive comparator'
And where that other (linear) control input is I cannot imagine, but in
the more extensive notes for the CEM3340 it says'the reference current
input pin may beused for linear modulation of the frequency...'
Now what I would like to know is whether it is possible to reproduce
CEM chips by some kind of feild programmable analog array, if such
devices exist.. any pointers in this direction appreciated..
There is a parallel between chip designers and musicians, I feel.
At the time Mr Curtis was designing these chips, they were state of the art
and in demand and very cutting edge commercial... but the world has changed,
and he has gone with it, and i suspect there is nothing he would like
less than to be reinvolved in this music stuff... the same way a band might
want to travel on and deveop in different ways even though a hard core of
old fans demand they stick to the oldies...
Unfortunately, I don't think the diy listmembers have enough money to
force Mr Curtis to make a comeback tour :(
