National Semi also has the LM1972/1973 parts that are Digitally
Controlled resistors. 

Go to http://www.national.com/design/ and search for LM1972/LM1973.

The price I got from my local distributor is more like $2.75ea (USD),
rather than the $3.50US on the national web site.
