I thought the material was decent, not fantastic. Worth the small amount
of money MAP asks, it's good to see a company like that in buisness. And
no, it's not a reprint, it's a reprint of Thomas Henry's old articles in
various magazines.

There *might* be links to it from the MAP page (prairies.lakes.com/~map).
Which will, incidentally, answer all of your other questions.

Random books plug: I just found a copy of "vintage synthesizers" in my
university's library.. really nice book. It has some full page glossy
drool pictures of buchlas and arps, and loads of somewhat mediocre b&w
pictures. Some really obscure hardware is in here, too, unreleased synths
and the like. The coverage is good and gives a good overview of everything
that could be considered "modern" synths, from buchlas up to the
"present". (just about, actually.. it was published in 93 and there are
references and pix of such late day synths as the matrix-6/dx7) ISBN#
0-87930-275-5 in case anybody's interested.

Another interesting book I managed to locate in the dusty bowels
(literally, the lowest of the low underground floors) is "Analog
Electronic Music Techniques" (# 0-02-873140-9). Again, probably nothing
that people on the list don't already know, but hell, i found it worth a
read :). Basically an overview of down and gritty howto and why from
classic tape techniques to modular patches. About 1/3 of the book is spent
on the former, 2/3 on the latter.. it's a bit heavy on the synths, but
that doesn't exactly turn me off.

The amazing thing is that I'm the only person to have taken these books
out since they've been in the library... I guess there's no accounting for
taste, eh?
