Simple OSC and Filter

Hi,
        I am getting quite interested in synth DIY... I have been reading
the list lately, and most of it, well... I have no clue what your talking
about. I understand basic electronics, and I was interested in making
something... Maybe a simple oscilator and filter to go along with it.
Something I could breadboard, and something with parts that are easily
obtainable... if anyone has information on such a thing, it would be GREATLY
appreciated.
