I've had much the same problem, with a little twist. I have a powerbook
180 that I do all my sequencing on, I can't afford soundiver or any
commercial editor, and there's no mac shareware m1000 patch editor.
Because of this I decided to pick up a matrix-6r.. hey, it's a matrix,
it's cheap, and although it doesn't allow for satisfactory realtime
editing of parameters via knobs or sliders, it will allow me to actually
*edit* patches finally. Additionally, unlike the PC-1600 it's actually
another *sound source*. (note: the 6r is still in the mail so I can't
really personally attest to how well the matrix-1000 and 6r combo works)

I'm also a little wary of peavey gear.. having done pro audio setup for a
few years i can safely say all their amps have the reputation of being
"toys", and I've never been comfortable using them. Not to say that I
don't desprately want a PC-1600 and spectrum analog filter :) (if anybody
has the filter that they want to unload, drop me an email)

BTW, has anybody done a mod for external audio in for the matrix-6/1000?

Andrew
