fyi... It's "SMPTE".

Doing an Alta Vista search on "smpte" turns in 5787 hits, and "smpte near
specs" turns in 8 hits. One of which gets you to a link that points to:

      http://www.smpte.org


Which is the "top of the tree" as it were.
