No.
But ...
Yes, there was. Holger Czukay of CAN used a kind of magnetic disk
recorder for his sound effects back in 1968 and maybe even today. I
read this at some Czukay homepage, can't remember the link. The thing
was called "dictaphone" (although you needn't be a dictator to own or
use it ;->) or so, absolutely low fi. Also the "echolette" use a
magnetic disk for echo effects.
All from my haed , no guarante for spelling etc.
I think, modern hard drives might be optimised for data retention,
that means high reluctance, this would prevent analog use, if you're not
after some very low fi sound...
