It's hard to do with flipflops if you want large odd numbers.

I could point you to my own VC clock divider (schematics on
synthfool), which I considered a "simple" module, until -
well until I read the LM3900 data sheet!
There's an application circuit that does almost the same
thing as my own circuit, but with much less components!
Haven't built it, but it should work ok, and it's a very elegant
little circuit! (BTW, Serge Tcherepnin (sp?) seemed to
be quite fond of the 3900, so *maybe* the Serge module
that does a similar thing might work in a similar way ..
