*WAIT*!
Before anyone takes this and starts rumors about PAiA, the FatMan, or
anything else, please understand a couple of things.
- The *OLD* PAiA MIDI->CV converter had a good number of bugs, basically
due to a design flaw that couldn't be fixed in software. Yes, it would lock
up on a good amount of MIDI data outside of simple NOTE_ON and NOTE_OFF.
- PAiA has admitted to the troubles of the *OLD* PAiA MIDI->CV converter
and has worked hard to make good for people that bought them.
- The *OLD* PAiA MIDI->CV converter has been off of the market for a number
of years, like more than 7.
- The *NEW* PAiA MIDI->CV converter is MUCH better.
- The MIDI->CV converter in the FatMan has NOTHING to do with the *OLD*
PAiA MIDI->CV converter, and is *NOT* broke like the old one was. In fact,
it works pretty damn well.
Please people, DO NOT make wide sweeping statements along these lines. If
you having problems with a piece of gear from Joe's synth company it is
*NOT* fair to draw parallels to ANYTHING that you saw with a Joe's synth
from many years ago. This would be much like complaining that your new
JX-8000 doesn't work like your Jupiter 8 does.
Now... About the MIDI problem at hand...
- John, Do you have the latest rev of the FatMan firmware?
- Have you called/written to PAiA? paia at paia.com
- I do think that there was a short mod to do to the interface; PAiA
can confirm this.
- I can tell you that my FatMan processes a BUNCH of data and it
doesn't hang up like this. There is hope, we just have to find
out what's happening.
