Not to elongate this thread, but my local Hollywood electronics store (Yale)
made a copy of this text for me from the "Amphenol 30 minute RF course"-


N was thefirst coaxial connector capable of microwave performance and was
invented by Paul Neill of Bell Labs.

C was invented by and named for an engineer from an Amphenol predecessor
company and who continued to develop many other connectors under the Amphenol
name: Carl Concelman.

"... the popular BNC series was developed in the late '40's... it won't
surprise you to learn the the BNC stands for "Bayonet Neill Concelman"
