I use one half of a wooden clothspin to remove knobs. I shove the thin side of it between the knob and the front panel, and then use it as a lever. Seems to have a perfect shape for this. If it's too thick, I look for other wooden stuff. Wood is perfect, as it leaves no marks on metal or plastic. JH.
