I don't know about the -101, but I had to do some hackage on my CAT 
I'm a dog person, biologically speaking  :  )     
to disable the second voice trigger generator.  When you introduced 
vibrato from an external CV source  the 2nd trigger circuit would re-trigger the 
envelope generators. (much like the pitch bend problem 
you describe... was it worse when you moved the pitch wheel faster?)

The CAT is only a multiple triggering synth, so I 
saw no other way out than to modify it to be a single trigger synth, 
and turn it into multiple, if desired, via the MIDI/CV Converter.  
My CAT was in pretty bad shape when I got it, 
so I don't know if they are all like this.
