PAIA Vocoder: Legitimate opinions please.....

Hi People....
There's a local musician, generally noted for being a bit of an idiot 
as a person but more than slightly successful as a dance music 
producer (there's ton's of no-name techno music in this country) who 
wants a vocoder. I suggested I could import and build a PAIA one for 
him, but I need to know wether it will make an intelligbble stab at 
vocal's, which is all he's really interested in. Anyone who has used 
one please contact me. The only other option would be to build and 
sell an Elektor one, and it's too much like hard work TBH....opinions 
fast please, he wants definite info by Monday night GMT....
