In August 1977 ETI (Australian edition) featured the design for a cmos based
2 channel 8 step sequencer. I have played with a friends one, and lashed
another up, based on their circuit. It works well. The basis is a 4520
counter driving 4051 analog muxes selecting from a row of pots wired as
voltage dividers, the output buffered with a fet op-amp.
