You're right.
However, I am not so fond of the on-chip multiplier in the 3340. For
some
reason, many 3340's are still more temperature sensitive than a good
3046 + tempco resistor design.
In my Modular, the SEM-syle VCOs are rock-solid, while I have to retune
the 3340's every session ...
