In addition to Gene Stopp's comments...
So you certainly don't wanna fry your synth or your meter and both is
possible. How about practicing first on a battery with a resistor or
potentiometer to get familiar with your meter and your procedure. The
worst you could do is blow your meter fuse (if there is one) or discharge
your battery.
And don't be afraid to power off your synth if you need to change something.
