Here is the status of the CEM chips:
I. Sales of existing inventory
Existing inventory of CEM chips will be sold in order to fund the 3340/3310 reissue. An exact list & price guide will be posted around Tuesday of next week. There will be 3 prices as follows:
2 pieces
5 pieces
10 or more pieces
Orders will be for 2, 5, 10, 15, etc. This will greatly speed things up of both parties and make tracking & inventory easier to manage. All data sheets will be posted on the website (finally got all of the missing ones). Yes, you can "mix and match" chips of the same price for quantities.
There is a POSSIBILITY that I will have around 50 3340 VCO chips available. If this occurs, I will sell these in multiples of 5 only, with a limit of 10 per person. These chips must be re-screened (they are not "new in the tube") and this will take time (about 2-3 weeks). They will be 100% tested to spec before shipping. If you get a bad one, return it for a free replacement.
Without being exact, I can offer all of the CEM chips EXCEPT:
3310
3328
3330
3340 (maybe, maybe not)
3391
3394
Check the website for data sheets. I will also try to list which chips went into which synth.
Pricing will include free shipping in US. I will ask for a modest foreign postage.
US payment will be with US Postal Service Money Order ONLY. Not a bank or 7-11 money order. This means I can get the new mail, post the orders out, and receive payment all in one spot. If I get any other form of payment, I will return your order.
For foreign orders, I'm up for suggestions. Email me with your preference.
Let me state the following so there is no misunderstanding:
1) I'm not doing this for the money
2) I'm doing this to raise money to reissue the 3340 and 3310
3) For the curious, EACH reissue is over $10K. Donations welcome.
4) Therefore, I'm counting on these initial sales to raise a PORTION of the money. Not all of it.
My thinking is that I can sell the 3340s more easily.
5) ALL of the 3340 money will then go to the 3310 mask set (ANOTHER $10K) if there is demand.
6) Any leftover 3340/3310 money then goes into making 2 modular synths for the DIY crowd:
a CEM based (a la Digisound) and the Titans of Analog Modular (a la Moog 55/DKI Synergy) and to pay for the website. I'd like to get my own URL this summer. (more $$$ again).
Please wait for the "Official Notice" to place orders. This will be early next week.
II. Reissue Status
The NRE quote has been received. It was about $5K higher than hoped (sigh!). This means that I need to raise more money by selling off current CEM chips. OnChip is transferring all stock and inquires to me beginning Monday. Please ask me for tech support, not OnChip.
The 3340 will be reissued first. The timing depends on raising the $$$. Please help support the reissue by buying the other chips.
Please do not "hold out", hoping the prices will come down, etc. etc. If at least 60% of the initial NRE is not raised by selling existing stock, the project DIES (unless somebody wants to cough up the money for a guarenteed supply). I, for one, want the 3340 and 3310 to reissue. But, it's not up to me.
Please email me if you have suggestions.
