Spring Reverb Pan

I have a spring reverb pan that is out of an old tube amp (Similar to A
Fender Twin '65) that I would like to use with my synths. I was having
trouble testing to see if the pan is any good. Is there a way to test
the input transformer? I wanted to make sure the pan is good before I
build the circuit. I have the schematics for the Moog Modular 905 Unit
and was also wondering if I could just use op-amp preamp stages instead
of the transistors.
I tried to test the pan by hooking the output from my synth directly
into the pan but did not get any kind of output . If I touch the springs
I hear the "THUNDER" sound but not the music from the input. Is the input
transformer bad ? If so can I bypass it or make a circuit that would
emulate the transformers function?
Thanks for any help with this!
