a possibly unrelated query

Hi all,
     Hoping to get back into building again soon but having fun reading
all the informative emails.  I have a quick question for anyone in the
Maryland/DC area, if anyone is... Are there any good shops around there?
I'm planning to move to Columbia (Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab job)
in the next month or so and would like to visit synth/electronics stores
if there are any.  Feel free to respond by private mails if you'd like
since this isn't really related.
