Sorry to out-dweeb you Dave, but the Poly6 has BOTH the 8048 and 8049.  
One handles the keyboard scanning, and the other handles the synth 
circuit control.

Other synths with multi-CPU configurations include the JP6 (3 8051s), the 
Chroma (huge brain fart on CPU identities, maybe 8051 & 8049), and the 
Xpander/M12 (multiple 6809s).

The weirdest CPU I've seen in a synth is the Polaris' 80186.  In its day 
this board was more powerful than most desktop computers.
