Hi Peter,
	I went throught the EXACT dilemma last year with a grey one. I ended up
carving the damn battery cover out of plastic and epoxy and spray painting
it. Even better would be to bend up some thin aluminum and paint. The knobs
can be ordered from a local Roland Repair shop and should take a couple
months but, they come in every now and then...
