Hi List,
Well the first proper Modulus VCO panels have been done and I'm very
happy. They're not perfect, but the legibility is excellent, getting
the regisrtation correct isn't too hard, and once the correct
posiotion has been noted it is possible to print off panels very
quickly. I only did three this afternoon, mostly as a proof of
concept, because I need to change the artwork but it all went fairly
well.....
The good points, well... it's legible, and three minutes after your
first one comes out, your second one does, then the third etc....as
soon as you need three of anything it is easier than transfers. The
Acrylic/Lascaux mix clings fairly well to the fine-texture surface,
and it looks like it'll wear well too.
The bad points....due to soome bizarreness of the software I use it
takes nearly an hour for the print-out to go through the printer, and
it needs at least four runs through to get the artwork dense
enough....It takes approx 2 1/2 hours to set up to make the first
print, and even after four runs through it still has some slight
banding... I have to share a printroom with a lot of arty people who
speak slowly in plain English when they're explaining things, even
when I ask the to talk quickly in acronym filled jargon, none of them
have grasped what I'm doing yet as far as I'm aware, though they are
greatful that I've fixed trwo of the three dead darkroom lights they
had, and will be fixing the other one next week, along with upgrading
various computers and I've promised to have a look at smoeones toaster
(I think, they were rather vague)....

An engineer in an artshop is like a unicylcle in a desert, someone
will find a use for it, but it probably won't be what it was meant
for.........
