Micrprocessors used in analogue gear/sequencers?

Dear  Simon ,
a lot of the early Sequential Circuit keyboards used the common Z80 processor
,
The oberheim expander uses the 68B09 cpu .
Some of the Roland keyboard use the 8048 , but customised with built in Rom .
A lot of the early sequencers don't use a Cpu , but are hardware based . I
guess the cost of the early CPU's was considerable , and certainly some of
the sequencers were designed before the Cpu were easy to get hold off .
