I believe that they used Roland gear almost exclusively (except for Mark's
Farilight, which was used for sampling and sequencing), as elder brother
(Jim?) Mothersbaugh worked for Roland USA. Of course, who knows what tricks
Brian Eno pulled out of his bag during the recording of the first album (Q:
Are We Not Men? A: We are DEVO!)? Plenty of ring modulation for sure.
