Preliminary Results of VCS3 survey

Howdy,

... well it's been a stimulating week. I spent the last couple of days
going over original VCS3 schematics (VCS3/ISS2/CKTx) and the darn thing
looks doable to a pretty close T except for the Reverb circuit and the
Output amplifiers which Graham Hinton noted was part of the sound owners of
original VCS3's liked (Hmmmm ... good point) He also thinks that three
VCS3's is the way to go in terms of systems, this is a great clue and
spells out a numerical form for me to think about.

Assuming that the Reverb circuit isn't necessarily part of the VCS3's sound
to a too great extent (though there was a comment to the contrary) I was
wondering about how much of all the circuits was really needed - bear in
mind that is common from one who would be thrilled to have one VCS3,
exstatic to be running two. In the 2x or 3x configuration I envisage
patch-chords running in the front of modules cases (no suitcase here except
as a rain guard for shows), a buffer board ... 1/4" or smaller phono jacks,
el-dummo ... one huge box with the joy stick hooked to a helmet which I
would wear on my head ( ...while dancing around naked at the airport) All
the other circuits seem straightforward and seem duplicatable alright.
Graham Hinton's page gives modification tips that would be included in this
clone. Btw, just how much is Reverb used on these things ?! ... like do
you do much LFO -> Rev -> Rmod where the dynamics of the Rev circuits
actually plays a considerable role (I fear this to be possible though a fix
seems lurkable)

Any thoughts are kewl by me

Side note before exiting: The other side of the coin said in essence that
I'd have to buy a VCS3. Now this would be nice except they don't swim
around here. So I thought I'd test the waters for bored VCS3 owners who
might have a daughter approaching puberty. In my visions I can see she's
just aching to play the guitar of her dreams: Yes, an original Purple
(Ernie Ball) Eddy Van-Halen guitar in great shape. A trade for the VCS3
would make all three of us happy. In my dreams ...

thanx to all who replied, especially Graham Hinton who supplied me with
valuable insight. The Synthi VCS3: no keyboard - just noise ... watta toy
!
