Odd, as a former Dr. Who Fan Club member, I read that the effect (the
T.A.R.D.I.S. moving thru time) was made by draw a pick across the
windings of the low E string of an electric guitar, amp'd and
reverb'd...  Upon reading this, I tried it and it sounds *very* much
like it.
