I think blank noise is the best, cause it contains all harmonics...

to rebuilt a vocoded sound, you use a sound that is filtered to reproduce
the coded formants.... then the best way to get back your sound is to
use this blank noise...

else if you use another one (ie violin, guitar..) you get a speaking violin
or speaking guitar....

this technique (with blank noise) is used for telecomunication
like your phone !
