How to make good looking front panels ?

There are a few refs in alt.comp.hardware.homebuilt which has a faq posted
each month.....there are 3 products mentioned viz.
"Letter Quick"
"Copi-Tak"
"Dynamark II"

but if you are doing a one-off something that I think looks hyper-retro is
that black and white sandwitched hard plastic that is engraved to create
white writing on a black background. There are plenty of photo-engraving
techniques as used on plaques also.

You might not think screen printing for a one-off, but if you know anyone
who has some ability in this regard, you can get a screen prepared
photographically for about $20 or so from your artwork, then put the small
panels under the relevant place and go for it....slightly awkward but much
more cost effective getting one big screen made. I use screen printing for
my MIDI-CV convertors etc and I'm pretty happy. BTW, screening onto black
panels use off white, not vivid white or you get an unpleasant visual effect.
