Armed PolySix

Dear list,

Yesterday an extraordinary thing happened which I thought I'd share with
you. I bought a used and broken Korg PolySix on monday. The guy I got it
from lives in Amsterdam, so after work I jumped a train and went over to his
house. Bought the thing, took it home and decided to use my day off
(yesterday) to open it up and see what's wrong with it.
Well, what's wrong is the battery leaking all over the PCB, a common problem
with these machines. But that's not the first thing I noticed. After
unscrewing the top, I saw a small blue device underneath the keyboard. I
took it out and was astonished to find 50 bullets for an automatic gun,
wrapped in a little cardboard box.
For the USA-residents on this list: guns and assorted items are illegal in
The Netherlands, as they are in most other European countries. So I decided
against throwing the box away, thinking of the harm these things might cause
when exploding in the face of an unsuspecting garbage collector. Instead, I
took it to the police.
Now, try to explain to your everyday run-of-the-mill police officer how on
earth you managed to buy a used synthesizer ("is that spelled
S-I-N-T-E-S-I-Z-E-R-T ?") stuffed full of illegal ammunition ...
Needless to say they're gonna pay the previous owner a visit, though I'm not
sure whether he had any knowledge of this. I have no idea why someone would
put bullets in a synth. Maybe it belonged to a mad keyboardplayer who was
planning to assasinate the band's guitar player for playing too much solos?
Maybe I get to hear what happened. Until then, the mystery will remain unsolved.
To be continued ....

Jeroen
