Since the time taken by a midi message is constant it doesn't make any
difference what tempo you're at.
If I send 8 note ons to my analogue drum module at the same instant,
there is a noticeable 'flam' between the sounds of the first and last
drums to be triggered. I agree that processing delay in many units will
cause even more delay, but in the case of my drum module, the processing
of each note takes less than 300 processor clock cycles at 2Mhz, so I
doubt that is the source of the delay.
