I wasn't aware that CA3080's were hard to find.  I haven't had
any trouble getting them.  Mouser has them (heck, even the local
electronics shops have them).  Believe it or not, LM13700s have
been more difficult to find locally (of course, mail order isn't
a problem).

I've built the "Electronotes" VCA in question.  It's almost childishly
easy to get working (a plus for me :-), and seems to do a fine job,
from simple empirical evidence.  It's possible that the schematic
is still on the ARF page.
