Personally, I use the CDP6402  from Harris Semiconductor (I think).


It depends upon what is going to be driving the UART - if it's going to be
used with a microprocessor then I would expect to use something like the
6850 (although that is a bit old now), but for simple hardware projects,
the 6402 is very simple to program just using wire-links....

I'm interested in what you have in mind :)
