Thought I would send a note to those interested with my newly purchased
VCMS3. It originally wasn't working at all. After doing to days of
probing and fixing several bad solder connections I found the main reason
why it wasn't coming to life. There was a loose leg of a big resistor?
(3OR 5WATT) Anyway I hooked it up and it came to life! I still can't get
sound out of the outputs or headphones jack but all the oscillators work,
the joystick works, the meter works, I think everything works but
somethings keeping the sound from getting to the actual outputs. Any
ideas? I'm going to keep looking for loose conections. I think it's been
sitting for a real long time. One of the other things I noticed after
reading about how most VCMS3's have been modified by owners. I don't
think this one has. It's been at a school since it was made until the
last owner who never got it working. I don't think it's ever been
modified. My bro is going to send me many of the schems for it which
might help me pin point the problem. Let me know if you can think of
anything I should look at.
