another attempt at asking questions.

my last post showed up as blank, which is too bad, because now i'll 
have to ask these questions all over again...

ok, since i'm new to this, be nice.

fist of all, what is the difference between 'linear' pots and 'audio' pots
and which should be used in synth building?  and what is the purpose of
three lugs on potentiometers?  in schematics i've seen (from delton
horn's book), i find that often two are connected together on the board.
