SV: lost mails

It has to be a server problem -- too many people on disparate systems with
disparate software seeing the same symptoms, particularly the huge increase
in severity the past few days.

Is anyone seeing this on any other lists? I subscribe to about a half
dozen lists and this is the only one I've noticed blanks on. Any theories
assigning blame to the recipients, or to a router in the US, need to
account for this. Then again, this is the only list I'm on that's based
outside the US. Hmm.

I'm guessing that if one were to compare the people reporting losses to the
order in which the server sends the mail (which might be the order in which
people subscribed, but is more probably some random-looking hashing) one
would find a correlation -- that at some point the server "loses" the
message and from there on the recipients get blanks.

Used to be it was maybe 1 message and 20, I figured it was just me and I
could survive without 'em. Last night out of 5 messages, 4 were blanks.
Getting pretty bad!! Are people using non-standard characters a lot more
often than they used to, or is this increase in frequency a nail in the
coffin of that theory?
