Someone asked for a ringmodulator explanation :

It is not so obvious in the schematic, but the four diodes
form a "ring", that's why the name.
The circuit is of course very nonlinear, but it approximates a four
quadrant multiplication, and that's what ring mods usally do in the time
domain. Only the HF-people do it that way today, the rest uses
diff gain stages for multiplication, so the term "ringmodulator"
is used for historical reasons only.
