Hi,

The VCO shown in the Harris 3080 data sheet is very similar to one of the electronotes prefered circuits VCO's which has very 
good performance.  Of course the secret is to use a good matched pair of pnp transistors for the exponential convertor. The 
MAT 03 from Analog Devices would work pretty well in this application.
