I mentioned it a while ago .. rather than build a midi2cv box for my
asm-1, I'm just going to build a usb2cv box (maybe later, a usb2midi box).
The USB board is something I want to build in general ... I'm hoping to
also use it to control a variety of robotic/mechanical gizmos.

I haven't devised the protocol yet.  My initial attempt is to implement
something with ZIPI like commands, and mess with it as I go.  I fully
expect to have to trash my 1st-pass results when it comes time for the 2nd
pass.  This is acceptable to me.

But I definitely want a system where events are prepped and then triggered
... my zipi spec is somewhere back in my apartment, it's been close to a
year since I looked at it...

The limitation of USB is that right now the existing transcievers are
limitted to 5' cables.  This will probably change eventually...
