Hi,

I have a book of Helmuth Tuenker from 1973 with some DIY projects.
There's a envelope generator described using a neon lamp/LDR
combination. Obviously the neon lamp was used to achieve some special
envelope characteristic, because an extra HV power supply was needed for
it. The author recommended a ready-made combination, so I suppose those
combinations were used in electronic organs of these days, too.
I never built this envelope generator, although some of my first
attempts to build musical instruments of my own were from circuits of
this book :-)
