Hi Bert (and the rest of the list, what the heck...),
Here's a reprint of a recent post from me to synth-diy:
Hi DIY,
Here's a re-post of the ASM-1 info - I need to do this once in a while for
list newbies as well as old-timers with lost archives....
I still have many ASM-1 PCB boards from my last batch purchase (about 30)
and I would be happy to sell them. The cost is $60 US, and for that price
you get a bare circuit board, schematics, text documentation, and assembly
drawings.
The schematics are not available on the web. You can find most of the
schematics on which the circuits are based in back-issues of
"Electronotes".
The ASM-1 is a collection of individual modules on a single 5" x 11"
double-sided circuit board with silkscreen and soldermask. The modules are:
(2) Saw-Pulse VCO with sync, linear FM, PWM
(1) State Variable VCF with low/band/highpass and notch outputs
(2) Fast ADSR Envelope Generators
(2) VCA
(1) White/Pink/Random analog noise source
(1) Tri/Square LFO
(1) Portamento Circuit
The thing is very similar in features to an old Oberheim SEM. The VCO and
VCF are exponential at 1V/Octave (circuit sections liberally borrowed from
the best of Electronotes).
No synth chips or hard-to-find parts are used - the expensive parts like
the matched transistor pairs and tempco resistors can be subbed with lower
cost parts without much sacrifice in performance. Power requirements are
+/- 12 or 15 volts DC regulated, at about 80 ma per rail.
I accept personal checks from the US and Canada, and AmEx traveller's
cheques or cash in $US (which does work well by the way) from other parts
of the world. I will discount the price to $50 per PCB for orders of 4 or
more. Orders can be sent to:

You can email me when you send an order so I can watch for it, and I can
email a verification when I receive it and ship out the PCB.
