TL074 and the rest of the TL07x family, are not always pin for pin
compatible. In theory they should be, but... don't go putting extremes of
input pd into them especially if you are using them as comparators. If your
supply rails are +/- 15v, and the inverting input is taken to about 13v or
so the output will go positive, whatever the non-inv is doing. Actually, it
may be the other way around, but either way be careful. I find the LM324 to
be quite good in non critical situations like simple LFOs for sweeping VCFs
and VCOs. The waveshapes are OK. Its cheaper over here in the UK as well,
and it runs off a single supply. Good for guitar effects pedals. For audio
signals it has to be the TL parts all the time. Mind you I love the 5532/4
but don't go using it as a voltage follower- a waste of money!!
